Application and compatibility method of sulfonamides

News briefing:

The clinical application of sulfa drugs has a history of several decades. It has a broad antibacterial spectrum, and has definite curative effect, stable properties, easy to use, low price, and convenient for long-term storage. Today, I will tell you the precautions for sulfa drugs. ;
   1. Choose different types of sulfa drugs according to the nature of the disease
   Systemic infectious diseases: For example, sepsis, drugs that are easily absorbed by the intestine should be used, such as compound sulfadiazine and sulfadiazine.
   Intestinal infections: such as enteritis and diarrhea, drugs that are not easily absorbed by the intestine, such as sulfamidine, should be used.
   Parasitic infections: such as coccidia, leukocytosis infection, sulfamethazine should be used.
 2. Determine the time and dose of medication according to the nature of sulfa drugs
The dosage of sulfa drugs is divided into assault dosage and maintenance dosage. All assault dosages are double the dosage within the safe range for the first time or the first day dosage, and then change to the maintenance dosage, that is, the normal dosage.
Combined use with baking soda (sodium bicarbonate): Sulfonamides are easy to crystallize in acidic environments. If sulfa drugs are used alone, sulfonamides will easily precipitate when excreted by the kidneys and block the ureter. Therefore, it should be used in combination with baking soda. Prevent crystallization from appearing. In addition, sulfa drugs should be used with caution or banned when renal dysfunction or systemic acidosis occurs.
   Combined use with synergist: Sulfonamides and synergist (such as TMP) are combined (5:1), and the antibacterial effect is increased by 10 times compared with the simple use.
   Combined use with VK and VB family: When sulfa drugs are used, they affect the intestinal absorption of VK and VB. Therefore, when using sulfa drugs, VK and VB should be added to the feed.
   Pay attention to the expiry date of sulfa drugs to prevent accumulation of poisoning. When using sulfa drugs, accurate dosage and uniform mixing are required. The course of treatment is 3 to 5 days, and should not exceed 7 days. Because long-term high-dose use is easy to cause accumulation and poisoning.
 3. Precautions for the use of sulfa drugs
  Do not use such drugs for 3 days before and after the vaccine, because sulfa drugs can inhibit antigen activity and reduce the immune effect.
   When sulfa drugs are used externally, such as joint abscesses, pus, mucus and necrotic tissue on the wound should be completely removed, because these substances contain a large amount of para-aminobenzoic acid, which affects the efficacy of sulfa drugs.
   Pay attention to the contraindications of compatibility: Liquid sulfa drugs such as sulfadiazine sodium injection are not easy to combine with acidic drugs such as vitamin B, vitamin C, penicillin, tetracycline, ephedrine hydrochloride, etc., otherwise sulfonamide precipitates. In case of procaine, the curative effect is weakened or even ineffective. In case of calcium oxide and ammonium chloride, it will increase the toxicity to the urinary system.
Strictly control the dosage of sulfa drugs, do not exceed 7 days, and provide sufficient drinking water at the same time; use sulfa compound preparations to reduce the dosage and avoid poisoning, and stir well when mixing materials. Once sulfa drug poisoning occurs, stop the drug immediately and supply enough Drinking water, you can take 1% to 3% sodium bicarbonate solution at the same time, add vitamin C and vitamin K to the feed; if poisoning occurs, use Shenzhongkang or other kidney antidote.
The above is an introduction to the precautions for the use of sulfa drugs and the compatibility method. I hope it will be helpful to all breeding friends.
