How to manage the ewes in the shed

Under the conditions of house feeding, 0.2 kg ~ 0.3 kg of concentrate is fed to the ewe every day.

       Mixed concentrate formula

Cornmeal 60%, wheat bran 21%, bean cake 15%, salt 1%, calcium hydrogen phosphate 3%. The daily feeding amount of roughage is 1.2 kg to 1.4 kg.

      formula

Alfalfa 49%, silage 49%, and roots 2%. At the same time, different management methods can be adopted in the three stages of pregnancy, pregnancy (5 months) and lactation (3 months to 4 months) according to the physiological changes of the ewe. But during the house feeding period, it is necessary to ensure that the ewes exercise for more than 6 hours a day.

      Empty pregnant period (recovery period)

If the ewe lambs from January to February (after 120 days of breastfeeding), the recovery period is from May to July; in the spring from April to May, the recovery period is from August to September. During the recovery period, the lambs have been weaned and the ewes stop lactating. We must focus on increasing the nutrition of the ewe to restore its strength, and strive to make the ewe full of fat and breeding.

      Pregnancy (5 months)

The first 3 months are the pre-pregnancy period, during this period the embryo develops slowly, so do not add too much nutrient feed. The last two months of gestation of ewes are the late stage of pregnancy. During this period, the embryos increase rapidly, and the requirements for nutrients are significantly increased. It is necessary to strengthen supplementary feeding to meet the needs of embryo growth and development.

For the first pregnant ewes in the late pregnancy, it is necessary to increase the grass and feed earlier than the parous ewes. The ewes in the later stages of pregnancy must exercise for more than 6 hours a day (the mileage shall not be less than 8 kilometers), do not drive too fast, do not chase, do not hit, do not frighten, do not let the ewe drink ice ballast water to prevent miscarriage . Never feed moldy and frozen feeds.

      Lactation period

The lactation period of lamb is 70 to 120 days. Two months after childbirth is the pre-lactation period, which is a key stage for feeding lactating ewes. At this time, the growth and development of lambs mainly rely on breast milk to provide nutrition, so the raising standards for ewes should be higher.

For lactating ewes, check their breasts and lactation frequently. If there is excess milk, reduce the amount of concentrate and juicy feed to prevent mastitis.
