Fetal qi refers to the edema of the abdomen and hind limbs of pregnant ewes, which usually occurs about 15 days before birth. It affects the fetal qi due to the imbalance of qi and blood, so it is called fetal qi.

1. Cause of disease: due to exogenous cold during pregnancy, internal injury and shade, improper feeding, and little operation, the vitality of the animal is lost, the qi and blood are out of balance, the clear qi does not rise, and the turbid qi does not fall, resulting in fetal discomfort.

2. Symptoms: At the initial stage of the disease, there is no obvious change in the spirit and appetite, and the abdomen (including the breast and perineum) and limbs are swollen, and the movement is slow, sometimes the abdomen is distended, and there is slight asthma. In patients with mild illness, the edema usually disappears by itself within a few days after delivery. The seriously ill sometimes show listlessness, anxiety, loss of appetite, restraint in walking and even inability to stand on the ground. Generally, the pulse condition changes little, the mouth color is clear, and the mouth fluid is smooth.

3. Treatment: Put the affected sheep in a warm and comfortable sheep house, pad a layer of soft hay on the ground, and clean it regularly. Take the affected sheep out of the shed and walk slowly for 3-4 hours every day. Feed more feed rich in protein and vitamins. Do not drink cold water. 12g Angelica, 12g Radix Rehmanniae, 10g Radix Paeoniae Alba, 8g Ligusticum chuanxiong, 6g Fructus Aurantii, 5g Cortex Qingpi and 3g Flos Carthami were used as fine powder. The powder was infused with boiling water to wait for the temperature, 1 dose per day. Generally, 5 doses were used continuously to cure.
