【Pharmacological action】

Pharmacodynamics This product（oxytetracycline） is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It has strong effect on Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus, Streptococcus haemolyticus, Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium tetanus and Clostridium clostridium, but not as good as beta-lactams. Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Brucella and Pasteurella are more susceptible, but less susceptible than aminoglycosides and amidol antibiotics. It also inhibits rickettsia, chlamydia, mycoplasma, spirochetes, actinomycetes and some protozoa.

This product（Oxytetracycline Injection） can be used to treat calf white dysentery, lamb dysentery, piglets yellow dysentery and white dysentery, chick pullorum, etc. caused by Escherichia coli or Salmonella. Hemorrhagic septicemia, swine plague and avian cholera caused by Pasteurella multocida, bovine pneumonia, swine asthma and chicken chronic respiratory diseases caused by Mycoplasma. It is also effective in treating Taylor's coccidiosis, actinomycosis and leptospirosis caused by hemosporiasis. It can also be used locally for necrosis caused by Necrobacterium necrosis, pyometrium, endometritis and so on.

Pharmacokinetics The peak time of this product after intramuscular injection is 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the injection site and volume. After absorption, it is widely distributed in the body, easy to penetrate into the chest, abdominal cavity and breast milk, and can also enter the fetal circulation through the placental barrier, but the concentration of cerebrospinal fluid is low. The apparent distribution volume of oxytetracycline was about 2.1L/kg in small animals, 1.4L/kg in horses and 0.8L/kg in cattle. Oxytetracycline is mainly excreted by glomerular filtration in its original form. When renal dysfunction occurs, excretion slows down and half-life prolongs. The half-life of oxytetracycline is 10.5 hours for horses, 4.3 to 9.7 hours for cows, 6.7 hours for pigs, 4~6 hours for dogs and cats.

【Drug Interaction】

1. Synergistic effect was observed in combination with macrolides such as tylosin, and synergistic effect was observed in combination with myxomycin due to the enhancement of bacterial absorption of these drugs.

2. These drugs can form complexes with bivalent and trivalent cations, so when they are taken with calcium, magnesium, aluminium and other antacid drugs, iron-containing drugs or milk, their absorption will be reduced, resulting in lower blood drug concentration.

3. When taken with sodium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate can increase the pH value of gastric juice, decrease the solubility of oxytetracycline, decrease the absorption rate, decrease the reabsorption of renal tubules and accelerate the excretion.

4. Combined with diuretics can increase blood urea nitrogen.

Functional indications:

It is used to treat infectious diseases caused by sensitive Gram-positive and negative bacteria, Rickettsia and mycoplasma, such as pasteurellosis, colibacillosis, brucellosis, anthrax and salmonellosis.

Intramuscular injection: a dose of 10-20 mg (titer) per kg body weight for domestic animals.
